Mexico, Feb. 27 (Notimex).- The information technology (IT) industry records an average annual growth of 10.5 percent in Mexico, with 70 million people of different age ranges connected to the network.
According to the Mexican Association of the Information Technology Industry (AMITI, for its acronym in Spanish), in the country there are four thousand companies that are related to this sector, which together invoice around 444 thousand 379 million pesos per year.
The opportunity of growth that the adoption of IT represents at the national level is fundamental for the nation to be competitive and benefits the population, said the executive director of Everis in Mexico, Peter Kroll.
“Information technologies play a key role in the development strategy, not only because of its growth potential, but also because of the benefits that can generate for other areas, as well as to increase the competitiveness of the economy in general,” he said.
The adoption of IT in the Mexican Republic allows the evolution of the markets towards digitalization, which is already being experienced in the world and to the extent of the introduction of new technologies such as the 5G network, which is already present in commercial devices such as some of those presented at the Mobile World Congress 2019, held in Barcelona.

Mexico, Feb. 27 (Notimex).- The Ibero-American Commission of Human Rights will focus its efforts during 2019 to attend elementary points to guarantee the attention of six urgent needs without putting aside the care of human rights.
The national president of that commission, Víctor Hugo Gutiérrez Yáñez, revealed that these points address the issue of peace, before the national insecurity; the problem of double-trailer cargo transport; the National Guard; the protection of journalists; the opening of political parties; and the creation of a health commission for food labeling.
In the first instance, he stressed that the commission is concerned about the violence in the country, so since February 20, it has been working to start the Peace Days (Jornadas de la Paz), which will be applied in different entities.
For this purpose, starting March 10 it will start in Chignahuapan, Puebla, a first journal with at least five thousand children through the spreading of Culture of the Peace and promotion to non-violence, a model that will seek to be performed in the sixteen Mexico City Halls
Regarding the problem generated by the transport of double trailers, he recalled that the initiative that regulated its circulation was removed, so it is essential to bring back this regulation to ensure that the population´s safety is not exposed.
The objective is to reduce the incidence of accidents caused by the circulation of these vehicles during peak hours, which is why we already work with the commissions of the Ministry of Communications and Transportation (SCT, for its acronym in Spanish) of the Chambers of Deputies and Senators.
The object is to resume this situation in order to remove the double trailer or to reconsider that they circulate at night shifts when the vehicle load does not represent danger.
As for the National Guard, the president commissioner for Latin America and the Caribbean of the Ibero-American Commission assured that “we are pleased that a civilian command was handled and as commission we are attentive to make careful surveillance in the whole country that no infringement to human rights is given”.
For this reason, he announced that the commissioners are instructed to review the development process of this guard, in addition that it will make sure its elements, once their surveillance role is accomplished, continue with training for their professionalization.
Regarding the National System for the Protection of Journalists, he warned that it has not fulfilled its function to guarantee the freedom of its exercise together with human rights defenders.
Therefore, he warned that the commission will seek to consolidate the mechanisms that guarantee that journalists and human rights defenders fulfill their role in an efficient and safe manner.
Regarding the opening of political parties, the commission has detected an overrepresentation of them, so it will focus its efforts to allow its opening and facilitate citizen participation through the necessary democratic mechanisms.
In terms of nutrition, the commission will promote the creation of a health commission for the labeling of food, so that they include a health lights that clearly specifies the nutrients, fats and calories that the consumer acquires by consuming them, as it is done in Ecuador.

Mexico, Feb. 27 (Notimex).- There will be more than a thousand 300 million 5G users and a thousand 360 million more mobile devices worldwide with a 40 percent network coverture, according to GSMA, organization that gathers mobile operators.
In a statement, it pointed out that the 5G network has three main uses: a broad band 10 times larger, 10 times more complexity in operations and network maintenance and 100 times more connections; challenges that operators will face when future transportation networks are built.
In that regard, Jeffrey Gao, president of the products line Ethernet de Huawei, pointed out that the operators must have in mind the commercial necessities of the next decade when the transportation network with technology 5G is built.
During this process, we believe that operators will have to keep in mind three principal standards: broadband update costs, convergent 4G and 5G transportation, and automatized operation and maintenance from end to end.”, he indicated.

Mexico, Feb. 22 (Notimex) .- In the framework of the public consultation on the Huexca thermoelectric plant in Morelos, the Government of Mexico signed an agreement with the United Nations (UN) for technical and scientific analysis regarding potential effects on the quantity and quality of water due to the operation of the thermoelectric plant.
At a press conference, it was said that although it considers that the Integral Morelos Project (PIM, for its acronym in Spanish) is in the general interest, it will be complied with the citizens’ decision in the referendum that will be held on February 23 and 24 on the thermoelectric plant, because “they are the ones who decide in this democratic process, where absolutely nothing will be imposed “and because as never before in the country’s history, there is a high level of consciousness of the people.
In the National Palace, the President signed the agreement whereby the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco) will provide technical and scientific support and issue recommendations on the process of the Huexca thermoelectric plant.
In such a way that in case of approving this project, there will be the opinions on the quality of the water and the non-contamination, on the part of an international and independent organism, “so that there is no doubt that we could not, in any way, carry out an economic activity however important it may be, affecting the environment, contaminating the water, damaging the territory”.
It was recalled that a gas pipeline was built from Tlaxcala to Morelos, passing through Puebla, where, despite the affectations and protests, the work was completed; At the same time, without consulting the population, the thermoelectric plant in Yecapixtla was built and the connection of the gas pipeline with the plant is pending in a space of 100 or 150 meters, but there is opposition.
López Obrador explained that the plant, owned by the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE, for its acronym in Spanish), means an investment of around 25 billion pesos, which would be lost if it does not work, while its operation would have the capacity to generate electricity and satisfy the demand in the entirety of Morelos.

Mexico, Feb. 22 (Notimex).- Specialists from Colegio de la Frontera Sur (Ecosur, for its acronym in Spanish) reported the discovery of a new species of crustacean (amphipod) in the bottom habitats of the Yucatan continental shelf.
The finding was in charge of the doctoral student Carlos Paz, who was advised by the scientist of that center, Daniel Pech.
Both, discovered and described the crustacean and was named as Gammaropsis elvirae, in honor of Elvira, the wife of Carlos Paz.
The new species was found frequently and abundantly at depths of 70 meters, which shows that the Yucatán platform has been little explored and that it has a great diversity of species that are not yet known, they explained.
In a statement, the Ecosur highlights that this discovery represents a milestone in the long-term research program on Marine Biodiversity and Climate Change.
It is described and illustrated as a new species of the Photidae Boeck family (identified in 1871), located in sites distributed in the soft sediment habitats of the Yucatán platform, south of the Gulf of Mexico.
The crustacean stands out for a unique set of characteristics such as rounded lateral cephalic lobes and external lobes of the lower lip, among others.

Mexico, Feb. 22 (Notimex).- The state of Nuevo Leon is experiencing growth in infrastructure and the attraction of international events, which is why in 2019 two thousand new rooms belonging to well-known hotel chains will be opened.
This was announced by the Ministry of Tourism of the entity, who noted that the state closed 2018 with a hotel occupancy percentage of 71 percent, which meant an economic spill of 13 thousand 845 million pesos.
While the average growth of people staying, compared to 2017, was 1.2 to 1.9 percent, it said in a statement.
It added that these figures reinforce the confidence of chain investors such as JW Marriott Hotels & Resorts, IHG, Westin and Fiesta Americana, among others, who see the state as one of the strongest destinations in Mexico.
IHG, the chain that manages the Holiday Inn brand, announced that it will add 378 rooms to its offer in two hotels that will be built in the metropolitan area of ??Monterrey, where the Holiday Inn & Suites Apodaca will have 208 rooms and Holiday Inn Express Fundidora will have 170.

Boston, Feb. 22 (Notimex).- The Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, Massachusetts, presents nearly 140 photographs of the Mexican Graciela Iturbide (1942), in an exhibition to tell the visual history of Mexico since the 1970 decade.
The exhibition “El Mexico de Graciela Iturbide” until May 22 will exhibit “the tensions that exist between urban and rural life, human presence and nature, indigenous and Spanish cultures,” the museum said in a statement.
The exhibition is composed of works belonging to the collection of Iturbide herself, photographs acquired by the Museum and others obtained by means of loans from museums and private collections in the United States, Mexico and France.
For the occasion, the Museum of Fine Arts of Boston prepared an illustrated catalog with more than 100 black and white photographic reproductions and essays about the artist.
“I am excited to present the revolutionary images of Graciela to our global audience, and it has been a pleasure and an honor to work hand in hand with her in the preparation of this exhibition,” said curator Kristen Gresh.
Iturbide Guerra, who has exhibited her work in various parts of the world, will participate on May 5 at a symposium on prominent photographers sponsored by the American cultural institution that presents the exhibition.

Tijuana, Mexico, Feb. 22 (Notimex).- The Bolshoi Ballet of Belarus presented its art in this city with “Sleeping Beauty”, in which 45 members of the company offered an evening full of dance at the Tijuana Cultural Center (Cecut, for its acronym in Spanish).
During the participation of the group in the agency of the Ministry of Culture in this border city, attendees enjoyed international dances with costumes made by hand by artisans from Belarus.
The performance marked the beginning of the tour that will be taken to various cities in Mexico, which will have the opportunity, like the Tijuana residents, to contemplate one of the most outstanding works in the world.
The fairy tale “La Bella Durmiente” captivated the Tijuana public, who attentively enjoyed the delicate movements performed by the ballet dancers of the play set in the Baroque of Europe.
The staging structured with a prologue and three acts, shed talent through the Bolshoi Ballet of Belarus, which belongs to the Bolshoi National Opera and Ballet Theater of the Republic of Belarus, founded in 1993.
Currently ballet is considered a symbol of the Belarusian art and a center of national culture, with colossal creative potential, a type of theater considered one of the main cultural places in Belarus, CEI and Europe.
Children, youth, adults and elderly enjoyed the ballet, which ended with prolonged applause and standing ovation from all attendees, in gratitude for giving an outstanding presentation.
